SA: Committee told sewage is killing sea grasses

ADELAIDE, Feb 3 AAP - Pollution had caused the loss of sea grasses along the Adelaide
coast and could impact on fishing, a Senate inquiry was told today.

South Australia's Environment Protection Agency told the Senate Environment committee
investigating the health of Gulf St Vincent that sewage outflow into the gulf was killing
the grasses.

Agency spokesman Robert Thomas said the loss was considered significant and if it continued
could impact on both commercial and recreational fishing and sand management on suburban
beaches.
