NSW: Young people targeted in cannabis awareness campaign

The New South Wales government is out to warn young cannabis users about the downsidesof the drug in a new campaign.

NSW Special Minister of State JOHN DELLA BOSCA says many young people mistakenly viewcannabis as a healthy drug, or a drug without consequences.

He says they need to know that's not the case and that there are risks associated withtheir actions.

Campaign ads warning of the drug's potential effect will appear in bathrooms in cinemasand shopping centres in January.

Mr DELLA BOSCA says government research shows that more than a third of 14- to 19-year-oldshave used cannabis.

Studies show adverse health and psychological effects from cannabis use, as well asimpaired driving and relationship difficulties.
