NSW: Skeletal remains discovered in Newcastle

Human remains have been discovered by a teenage boy on his way home in Newcastle.

Police say a crime scene has been established around grassland behind an industrial
estate at Islington in Newcastle's inner west.

Police say scientific police and forensic pathologists have examined the remains and
inquiries are continuing.

The boy made the discovery about 3pm (AEST) yesterday while taking a short cut home.
