Vic: Vic govt thanks overseas, interstate firefighters

The Victorian government has thanked firefighters from overseas and interstate who
have joined the battle against fires still burning across the state.

About 600 firefighters have travelled to affected areas .. adding to the four and a
half thousand local volunteer and career firefighters working to contain 12 blazes and
consolidate containment lines.

Firefighters from New South Wales have been posted to Beechworth .. Tasmanian firefighters
have been working in Woori Yallock and South Australian crews have worked in Churchill.

A team of 60 US firefighters is due to arrive in Melbourne tomorrow .. while a crew
from Canada will arrive early next week.
